Solar Power

It is important to be clear about what you are intending to achieve by installing solar (photovoltaic) panels.
There are two uses for on-board solar and whilst the technology is the same the scale is very different.

Solar - Battery Top-up

Photo: Solar Top-up Panel Solar Battery Top-up involves a panel, or small area of panels, quite often semi-rigid and/or 'walkover'. This normally produces power at a low voltage, typically 12 volts, which is used to 'trickle charge' the battery and perhaps run low-power devices.,br. This usage is particularly desirable where a boat is left unattended for several weeks. We offer a range of Solara panels which you can buy online from this website.

Solar - Motive power

Panels are typically rigid and about 1500 mm x 900 mm in size. Such a panel would produce just over 200 Wp and will only be of realistic use if used as part of an array of such panels. We would normally look to provide a minimum of 2 kWp, so would be looking at 10 panels.
If you require solar panels for motive power please contact us to discuss your requirements.
