Saildrives

The Saildrives are supplied with extremely compact Synchronous motors - water cooled and impervious to moisture.

This is a specially designed solution enabling a standard Saildrive leg to be used in an electric propulsion system. It can be combined with any Saildrive leg and a comprehensive motor range (see Larger inboard). The components are delivered in an plug and play configuration.

Pods

The Aqua-Pod is made out of seawater proof aluminium, with extra protection from 6 layers of epoxy coating. The form has been optimised to ensure minimal friction and that the water flows to the propellor as efficiently as possible.

Within the bulb is a ultra-modern AC 3-phase synchronous motor or a very energy-efficient permanent DC motor (dependent on choice). The motor, bearings and seals are designed for professional use and are guaranteed to give years of sailing pleasure with the minimum of maintenance.

Each type of Aqua-Pod is equipped with a propellor that is carefully matched to the motor, so that the greatest efficiency can be achieved. The shaft and the tail fin are designed to offer virtually no resistance, and can be used as a fin or rudder for the steerable Aqua-Pod

For use the Aqua-Pod in shallow water specify the stainless steel cavity plate. The high power and extremely high efficiency ensure that almost all available power is transferred to the propellor.
