Larger AC Systems for Boats over 25ft

For boats over about 25 lwl we normally recommend AC motors. Please be clear that the motive system is still DC - so the battery, charger etc are all DC. This DC current is "chopped up" into AC at the controller and supplied to the motor.

Motors

We offer two motor types and a range of power from 5 kW to 20 kW and greater. Both types (SilentProp and Homewood) are supplied as a full system including motor, mounts, controller, switches, wiring, throttle, instruments and instruction manual. They are maintenance-free.

SilentProp

This motor comes in a range of sizes: 3.5 /
5.0 / 10.0 / 20.0 kW. The quoted power is for full continuous use (S1).

The controller is enclosed in a compact casing that has an extra cooling unit. State-of-the-art software ensures ultimate handling under all conditions.

The Hi-Tech display shows battery condition, residual sailing time, total sailing time, total motor hours, motor rpm, power in amps, mode (economy or full), and service messages.

Homewood

These motors are exceptionally robust and are ideally suited for commercial operators. There are two sizes, the smaller (ST 37) replaces internal combustion engines of 20 to 25 HP whilst the larger (ST 74) replaces 45 to 50 HP, clearly you can double these power outputs with a twin screw system.
